The Start of Air World

Air World Pads and Covers is a leading manufacturer of silicone based press pads for dry cleaners and laundries.

Air World began its manufacturing operations in October, 1997 in Paterson, NJ. In a modest facility, with a handful of production staff, Air World set out to manufacture press pads and laundry covers and air bags for the dry cleaning and laundry market.

To provide the best quality products for garment finishing, Air World decided to develop its own fabrics and padding. To accomplish this, Sam Oh, founder and President of Air World, worked closely with various textile manufacturers to develop Air World's own line of specialty fabrics. Prior to coming to the USA, Mr. Oh had received a Textile Engineering Degree and ran his own textile manufacturing plant in Korea. Over the past several years much time and effort has gone into the development of these materials

As a result, Air World now uses most of its own fabrics to make its pads and covers. In contrast, other pad and cover manufacturers purchase materials from the same sources. With Air World's ability to produce its own raw materials, we are able to produce more consistent products that last longer and produce a better press finish.

Air World began to market its products through distributors, drycleaners and laundries. Immediately, customers recognized the superior quality in the Air World products and began asking for them by name. The quick popularity and increased production volume required Air World to expand its manufacturing facility in December 2001.

Growth and Expansion

In January 2002, Air World moved their production plant to a 15,000 sq. ft facility in Paterson, NJ. In the new facility, Air World has been able to increase production, further improve quality control and develop new products.

The Silicone "Dream Pad"

Air World introduces a breakthrough in the dry cleaning press pad naming the new pad, "The Silicone Dream Pad". The Silicone Dream Pad is a revolutionary design which incorporates silicone foam instead of the traditionally used latex foam inside the press pad. Silicone Foam breathes much better to allow steam and vacuum to pass through. Silicone foam also is much more heat resistant than latex foam which makes the pad last much longer. The pad remains soft and resilient months longer than latex based foam pads.

By manufacturing its pads with silicone foam, Air World has distanced itself from all other pad companies which use latex foam padding in their products. The cover material is available in a slick grey polyester or Nomex material with a Teflon Finish.

Air World Completes Full Grid Plate Line

In June 2003, Air World finalized all mold sizes for its double layer grid plates and began production. In researching grid plate design, Air World decided to make several enhancements in their grid plates to improve pressing quality. The main enhancements were in hole design and hole size and the addition of a moisture repellent treatment used on the outer cover material of the grid plate. Since the introduction of the Air World Grid Plates, thousands have been sold and customer response has been excellent.

Air World becomes OEM for Equipment Manufacturers

Air World manufactures pads and covers for Sankosha, Itsumi and other major equipment manufacturers. Air World manufactures all its pads and covers to exact manufacturer specifications for perfect fit and pressing quality.

Air World Distributors number over 250

In July 2003, Air World added its 250h distributor to their network. Air World products are now available through more than 250 distributors throughout the US , Canada and other countries worldwide.
